WHO I AM

ANN THAI

THE HUMAN

I started Mālama Culture Co. after more than two decades sitting inside companies as the person obsessed with creating work that is centered around the human experience. Corporate learning and development, DEI program leadership, hospitality, property management. I have seen what it looks like when a company means what it says about its people, and I have seen the gap when it does not.

Mālama means to care for, to tend, to protect, to preserve. That is the work. Not a values poster. A practice, audited against what actually happens.

I live on Oʻahu, where I write, coach, and consult on corporate culture and leadership for founders and executive teams who are building something worth staying for.

When I’m not working, you can usually find me outside snorkeling on North Shore or getting lost on one of O’ahu’s great hikes with my daughter, my husband, and our dopey rescue pittie named Bailey.

THE BOOK

THE LAST HUMAN IN THE ROOM

The Human Cost of AI and the Skills No Algorithm Can Touch

Before Mālama Culture Co., there was the book. I wrote it for the person who was let go, the person bracing for it, and the leader trying to hold it all together during this rollercoaster era of AI.

This is the other half of the work. Thinking about what happens when a company treats people as a line item, and what it takes to lead differently on purpose.
